The labor economist will join Princeton in July next year.
Musalem is currently an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, and takes up the new role on April 2.
The economist is currently the Neil Moskowitz Professor of Economics and Finance at the University of Maryland.
The Chicago Booth professor will begin work at the reserve bank in January.
Richard Ostrander joins the reserve bank from BlackRock, where he has worked since 2011.
