University of Bologna appoints Guglielmo Barone as professor of economics

The University of Bologna has appointed political economist Guglielmo Barone as a full professor.

He was previously an associate professor of economics at the institution, and before that was an associate professor of economic policy at the University of Padua.

Prior appointments include a 15-year spell working as an economist at the Bank of Italy.

Barone is also a fellow of the Rimini Centre for Economic Analysis and a member of the World Economic Survey group at the ifo Center for the Economics of Education Studies.

His primary areas of research interest are political economy, urban economics and public economics.
