He is an expert on monetary economics and joins from the European Central Bank.

Alan M Garber has served as interim president of Harvard University since January.
He takes on the interim role following the departure of Matthew Holt, who has left to join Clemson University.
The economist joined BOE’s monetary committee in September 2021 will now remain on it until Sept. 5 2027.
The Brown University economist took up the one-year appointment on July 22.
Stephen Kinsella will be seconded to the role on a part-time basis.
