The Econometric Society elects 42 new fellows

The Econometric Society has elected 42 new fellows for their contributions to economics.

Those receiving the accolade this year include Gabriel Zucman, David Atkin and Sandra Black. A full list of 2024 fellows can be found here.

Econometric Society President Eliana La Ferrara said: “Election as a Fellow of the Econometric Society is a recognition of important contributions to Economics. The Fellows represent the highest authority of the Society. I congratulate them on this great honor.”

Candidates for fellowships are nominated by other society members, existing fellows, and a fellows nominating committee. They are then elected by the society’s active fellows.

The society has elected 1,229 fellows since 1931, of which 84 have won the Nobel Prize in economics. Out of this year’s fellows, 26 — or 62%– are men and 16 are women.
