Economist Elissa Braunstein named interim liberal arts dean at Colorado State
Colorado State University has appointed economics professor Elissa Braunstein as interim dean of the school’s liberal arts college.
She takes up the role on Feb. 19, and replaces Ben Withers, who is taking up a new role at Iowa State University.
Braunstein previously held a five-year appointment as chair of CSU’s economics department and is currently associate dean of research and graduate programs in the university’s College of Liberal Arts.
She joined CSU in 2005 from the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and before that worked as a senior economist at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
Braunstein’s work focuses on the international and macroeconomic aspects of development, with particular emphasis on economic growth, macro policy, social reproduction and gender. She is editor of the journal Feminist Economics.
CSU has started a search for the next dean of its liberal arts college.
