Boston University promotes applied economist Gross to full professor

Boston University has named applied economist Tal Gross as a full professor at the Questrom School of Business.

He joined the university in 2017 from the University of Miami, where he was an assistant professor, and previously held an academic post at Columbia University. Gross obtained his Ph.D. in economics from MIT.

Alongside Gross, BU has also promoted finance scholar Andrea Vedolin to professor. Her research looks at the volatility and counter-cyclicality of exchange rates, and she also studies how trading frictions are reflected in exchange rates.

Gross’s empirical research focuses on health economics and household finance, and his most recent work uses novel data and experimental designs to examine how household budget constraints affect health care consumption.
