Sonoma State appoints Michael Visser as interim dean of business school

Sonoma State University has named Michael Visser as interim dean of its School of Business and Economics.

He started in the role on Jan. 3, taking over from Jean-Francois Coget, who has left to become dean of the business school at California State University, Sacramento.

Vissa was previously faculty associate dean at Sonoma State University (SSU) School of Business and Economics, and a prior chair of the institution’s economics department.

In addition, previous Interim Dean at the SSU School of Business and Economics Karen Thompson has also taken up the role of interim faculty associate dean.

Visser received his Ph.D. and masters degree in economics from the University of Oregon, and an undergraduate degree in economics from Western Washington University.

SSU Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Karen Moranski said: “I want to thank Dr. Dean Jean-Francois Coget for his innovative work at the SBE and wish him the best.”

She added: “I know that this pair of excellent leaders will continue to provide stability and cohesion at the school. Both are eager to work with all faculty and staff to continue the achievements we have seen over the past several years.”
