Tony Scott to lead Monash Center for Health Economics

Health economist Tony Scott is set to become director of the Center for Health Economics at Monash University.

He joined the institution on May 1 and will take over leadership of the health center on July 1.

Scott has moved to Monash from the University of Melbourne, where he was a professor of health economics. His research interests focus on the behavior of physicians, health workforce, incentives and performance, primary care and hospitals.

He obtained has undertaken work for the World Bank, Independent Hospital Pricing Authority and the Commonwealth and State Departments of Health. Scott obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen.

Commenting on his new appointment on Twitter, Scott said: “Very sad to be leaving colleagues and friends @MelbInstUOM @BusEcoNews after 18 years but excited to be joining @CHE_Monash on 1st May and taking over as Director on 1st July.”

The Centre for Health Economics is part of the Monash Business School and has one of the largest concentrations of senior health economists in Australia.
