UChicago awards named professorships to 5 economists 

The University of Chicago has awarded named professorships to five economists working at the institution.

At the Booth School of Business, applied economist Chang-Tai Hsieh has been appointed as the Phyllis and Irwin Winkelried Distinguished Service Professor, and Lubos Pastor has been named as the Charles P. McQuaid Distinguished Service Professor of Finance.  

The university has also appointed Robert Shimer as the George J. Stigler Distinguished Service Professor of Economics within the division of social sciences.

Meanwhile, William Hubbard, whose current research focuses on the economic analysis of litigation, has been named the Harry N. Wyatt Professor at UChicago law school.

At the university’s Harris School of Public Policy, Scott Ashworth has received the Homer J. Livingston Professorship.

The new appointments were effective as of July 1.
