Goethe University names Tobias Berg as professor of finance
Financial economist Tobias Berg has been appointed as a professor by the Goethe University Frankfurt.
He joins the university from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, where he led that institution’s department of finance. His research interests include financial intermediation, corporate finance, empirical methods, risk management, fintech and climate finance.
Berg joined Frankfurt School of Finance and Management in 2016, and before that was an associate professor of finance at the University of Bonn.
He holds other academic appointments including that of research fellow at the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research, research professor at the Halle Institute for Economic Research and as board member of the Frankfurt Institute for Risk Management and Regulation.
Announcing his appointment on Twitter, Berg said: “After 7 years at Frankfurt School, I am excited to join Goethe University as a Professor of Banking starting in June 2023. I will also be a research fellow at SAFE (Leibniz Institute for Financial Research).”
