Elaine Liu to join Georgia State

Georgia State University has named Elaine Liu as an economics professor and director of the Georgia Policy Labs interdisciplinary research center.

She joins the institution from the University of Houston, where she held a professorship, and her research focuses on the intersection of development, health, labor and behavioral economics.

As faculty director of the Georgia Policy Labs, Liu will be responsible for guiding interdisciplinary, applied research partnerships with local and state agencies. The research center is part of GSU‘s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies.

Commenting on Liu’s appointment, policy school Dean Thomas J. Vicino said her leadership would be “instrumental in strengthening connections between research and practice, particularly in areas such as health, education and human capital development.”

Liu obtained her Ph.D. from Princeton University. Her new faculty appointment begins on Aug. 1.
