National University of Singapore hires Ruben Durante and Johannes Haushofer
The National University of Singapore has appointed Ruben Durante and Johannes Haushofer as professors of economics.
Haushofer took up the post of Goh Keng Swee Professor of Economics at the institution this month.
Since 2022, he has been a professor of economics at Stockholm University and during that time was also a visiting professor at the National University of Singapore. Between 2014 and 2020 he was an assistant professor of psychology and public affairs at Princeton University and held a joint prize fellowship in economics at Harvard and MIT.
Haushofer’s research interests lie at the intersection of neurobiology, behavioral economics, and development economics. His work has focused on whether poverty has psychological and neurobiological consequences, and whether these consequences affect economic behavior.
Durante will be joining NUS in August, and was previously a professor at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. He is also an affiliated faculty member at the Barcelona School of Economics and a research affiliate at the Center for Economic Policy Research.
His research focuses on the functioning and impact of traditional and new media in democratic societies.
A spokesperson for NUS confirmed the appointments.
