Chika Urama holds an MPhil and PhD in land economy from the University of Cambridge.
He joins Kiel as a professor of economics and is expected to become director of the institute on June 1.
They join the economic experts working group, which provides advice to agency staff.
If confirmed, the Sidley Austin senior partner will lead the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London.
