Maya Eden to join Zurich as economics professor

The University of Zurich has hired macroeconomist Maya Eden as an economics professor.

She will join the institution next summer from Brandeis University, where she is currently an associate professor of economics.

Eden’s research has focused on welfare economics as well as monetary policy and labor market dynamics.

Before moving to Brandeis in 2017, she was an economist in the macroeconomics and growth team of the development research group at the World Bank.

In a note on X, formerly known as Twitter, University of Zurich economics department Chair Florian Scheuer said: “I‘m thrilled to report that the fantastic @MayaREden from @BrandeisU (and my fomer @MITEcon classmate!) will join our Department @econ_uzh next summer as Professor of Economics! Can‘t wait to welcome you to Zurich!”

Eden’s appointment follows that of Andreas Mueller, who will also join Zurich next summer from UT Austin.
